Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart.(Philippians 4:6 GNB)
Disasters come by surprise. They strike like a cyclone. The strong whirlwinds take the wicked to their destruction and death. But see those who are under God’s protection: they are covered by the Spirit of God. They cannot be moved like Mount Zion which cannot be removed. They stand tall in the face of calamities, trials and sufferings. Let us apply the expert advice when disaster comes.
- DROP down onto your hands and knees, (before the earthquake knocks you down). This position protects you from falling but allows you to still move if necessary.
- COVER your head and neck (and your entire body if possible) under a sturdy table or desk. If there is no shelter nearby, only then should you get down near an interior wall (or next to low-lying furniture that won’t fall on you), and cover your head and neck with your arms and hands.
•HOLD ON to your shelter (or to your head and neck) until the shaking stops. Be prepared to move with your shelter if the shaking shifts it around. You see, these are biblical principles being taught by the Bible. Drop to your hands and knees to pray! Do these before things around you put you down to harm you. Cover your head and your neck means making sure your head is covered by the Spirit of God. Do not doubt God even a bit. Don’t panic for God is with you. Hold on to your faith, hope and to the love of God. God is our home where we find peace, comfort, protection and provision. Let us give thanks to God for His saving grace.
