He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, and He will pay back what he has given. Proverbs 19:17 NKJV
How can we lend something to God? He is the source of everything we have, even our lives. What a great opportunity it will be if we are able to lend God something! Will He borrow from us? When does He borrow? He loves the poor. He chose those who are poor to make them rich in the things of heaven. He promised that they will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. The poor have a special place in God’s heart. If we are in a position to give help to the poor, we should be grateful. For one, we are not the ones begging or needing help. We are able to give because God blesses us. In addition, we have the opportunity to practice our Christian virtues of compassion and sympathy. If we give to the needy, do not expect anything in return. Understand that they are not able to return the favor. Consider what you did as something you lend to God. As such, it is God who will pay you back, and with great interests. He will give you more than what you gave to the poor, for you to be able to help more. It is the best loan that you have ever invested. God will pay you more than gold and silver, He will prosper your body and your soul.
