Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. (Psalms 23:4 NKJV)

Christ is the Good Shepherd and Bishop of our souls. We were the lost sheep He sought for and saved from the claws of bears and lions of this world. During these perilous times, there is always danger from the snares of the devil who stalks us, waiting for the opportunity to snatch us from Christ; but we can depend on Christ. He promised not leave us and desert us. We can hold on to His words because He already gave His life for us. There is no greater love than Christ’s love for us because He suffered and died for us to be saved. That is why you and I should not fear. Evil cannot come near us. Our Shepherd has a rod to defend us from satanic attack. In times of temptations, His staff reminds and prevents us. When necessary, it corrects us to not commit sins. As sheep in His flock, He knows us very well: our desires, strengths, and weaknesses. He heals us of our brokenness. We are not afraid, not even of death. Fear of death is Satan’s tool to enslave men all their lives – but not us. Death is just a shadow. The sting of death is gone. Death is swallowed up in our victory because of Christ, for as long as we are IN THE FLOCK, which is His Church, we are safe be- cause Christ is our Shepherd. As David said, “the Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”
