That in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality . (2 Corinthians 8:2 NKJV)
Being servants of God, we should not be affected by our status. Whether we are rich or poor, and if ever our status change, God’s servants should always remain faithful. It just so happened that those who are among the poor are the ones who can really experience the abundance of God’s blessings. Why? Because they do not put their hope in anything but God. That is why we can see the large part of the active worshipers is composed of poor people. I believe that they are active not just because they need something from God but because despite all the afflictions and difficulties they go through, they can witness and experience God’s goodness to them. That is what being a servant is all about. We will worship and serve God no matter what situation we are in because for us, what really matters is not our own happiness but the pleasure of the God we are serving.
