True love hates! Yes, Agape love hates evil. It is committed only to goodness. True love is not a mask someone can wear to pretend to be someone whom it is not. That is deception – evil in the sight of God. True love is selfless, not motivated by the goodness of oneself but of the welfare of others. It is said that we should love our enemies. In this passage, we are taught how to get rid of our enemies, especially those who oppose our faith. Christ exemplified it. The same wound inflicted by His enemies is the same wound that shed blood for their salvation. Show kindness and goodness to our enemies. Show them the same love of Christ that redeemed us. Show them that God wants them to be saved. We can only do that if our spirit has been transformed into the mind of Christ. Then and only then can we do things which are good, perfect, and acceptable to Him.
