But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. (Romans 6:22 NKJV)
The one thing that is true for all slaves is that they can be bought for a price. We were slaves and we were bought by the precious blood of Christ. We obtained our freedom from the free gift of God’s grace. We were not bought because we were valuable to warrant Christ’s sufferings and death. We were sinners – our souls were filthy, but God loves us with an everlasting love. He gave His life for us that we may have life. What is life without freedom? The worse thing that can happen to our soul is to be captives of deceit and sin. They can be likened to a bird in a cage or without wings to fly high. We were like that, but we now enjoy the freedom from sin. Live as free children of God and do not use it to cover up sins. We were already washed from our sins. We were cleansed by His blood to be holy. Continue living in holiness and the reward is great – the everlasting life which we all desire to have, the eternal rest in heaven.
