So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. (Luke 15:20 NLT)
This is exactly what the parable of the prodigal son and father reconciliation strongly portrays. The son abandoned his father’s house and wasted his fortune with the pleasure of the eyes, ending in a very miserable life. The only resolution he has is to return to his father’s dwelling. Maybe he expected cold reception, if not refusal, but he was humbly determined to return to his family. I believe the father knew exactly that his son spent his means in a riotous and wild living and that he ended up in a wretched life. He also noticed his son’s will and determination to come back home; and, on his way, his father rushed towards him, look upon him with eyes full of love, pity, and compassion. The fortune God gave to us is our own life. If we choose to spend it separated from our Heavenly Father, surely, we will end up as broken souls. The Father’s house is His Most Holy Church of God in Christ Jesus. No matter how long and how far we have gone away from Him, by spending our lives in sinful ways, He will still be gracious to us; “But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.” Come back to God and He will accept you with open arms. What are you waiting for? Pray and you shall be forgiven. Go home now to where you really belong.
