But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. (Romans 6:17-18 NKJV)
All men have sinned. The penalty of sin is death. We sinned because we were dominated by the power of Satan. By that, we were slaves of Satan. We were doomed for eternal condemnation. We were wretched men! Yet God, because of His love for us, delivered us when He came in the flesh and paid for our sins. We are now free from the law of sin and death. We are now controlled by His Spirit to live righteously. We are now new creations who live according to His commands. We are now slaves of God in righteousness destined for eternal life. These are the two kinds of slavery. One dominated by Satan – our lives committed to carnal pleasures, pride, and greed. Our end is misery and destruction. Now we are slaves of God – devoted for godly living in the service of glorifying Him. We have the gift of love, joy, happiness, and peace. We are treated not as slaves but as children of God. We remain in Him, and He in us. We are truly free in Christ our Lord. Fight for your freedom. Fight a good fight of faith. Stay free!
