Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5 NIV)

Do not be greedy for the things of this world. Greed is the desire not only for money. It can be of anything. It is related to envy and covetousness. It is a never ending desire for something more than what you need, more than what you are able to have. It provides short term happiness. It is when you get something that you desire, you are happy but just for a short while. You desire for more, and the cycle never ends. The love of money (worldly things) leads one to sin. It is the cause of all evil. One who is greedy resort to lying, deceiving, robbery, even killing. Another sin is that it prevents one to share what he has to the needy and to God’s works of souli-winning and the Church Administration. Love of material things also blinds one to what is most important. Our spiritual need is more important than our material needs. God has promised us, He will provide for all our needs. He will be there to support us. Do not make the mistake of pushing God away from our lives because of greed. Instead, thank Him for what we have. Be content on what we presently have and praise God for it.
