Let Us Pray No. 253

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21

Abba, merciful God, as our father, you provide us with all the necessities of life, for our material and spiritual needs. You want us to prosper and succeed in our lives even here on earth. Most of all, Father, you want us to acquire your infinite and incomprehensible riches in heaven. Lord, let us not forget the lessons from the prodigal son who went out of his Father’s house, squandered his inheritance in wild living until he was left with nothing. Lord, as long as we live with you and for you, we shall have everything we need. May we not spend our lives in providing for this present life, rather, may we always focus our efforts in preparing for eternity. We thank you Lord for being generous to us. You give when we ask. You give even more than we ask for. Most of all you forgive when we stumble and fall. On the contrary, most of the times we ask and not be thankful. We ask more than we need and deserve, and then forget to gratify you. We close our fists when we receive and keep the blessings only for ourselves. Father, give us a generous heart like yours. Open our hands to give to your works and to those who are in need. Your blessings are all for us to take but you cannot bless us with clinched fists. You cannot put anything when our hands are closed. No blessings will come to us if we do not share them with others. Father, bless us as we bless others. Amen.
