So we can go confidently to the throne of God’s kindness to receive mercy and find kindness, which will help us at the right time. (Hebrews 4:16 GW)
The throne of God represents the character of the sovereign God. His seat is where we can have mercy and forgiveness. In the tabernacle, God seats in the Most Holy Place, on the mercy seat. No one can enter it except the High Priest who, once a year, offers sacrifices for the atonement of the sins of the people of Israel. It is the secret dwelling of the Most High God. When Christ died on the cross, the curtain which separates the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place of the tabernacle was torn in two. The curtain represented the body of Christ which was offered as the sacrifice for our sins. From then on, we can now freely approach the mercy seat of the Most High God to ask for forgiveness and for our material needs. We specially ask for our spiritual provisions. If we ask Him faithfully, He is generous to give us more than what we ask for. We are assured of His favor because we are already in the Most Holy Place, the dwelling place of God which is the Most Holy Church of God in Christ Jesus.
