But Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God.

Ruth 1:16 NKJV
Jesus Christ told His disciples “Follow me.” The same invitation was given to us. You and I said, ”I will go.” And we followed Him. We follow His Words, His examples of obedience even in sufferings. When we say, “I will go” it is a statement of faith. It means we trust Him with our lives. We are willing to submit our will to His will. We are willing to spend the rest of our lives with Him. Just like Ruth, her husband died and decided to go with Naomi, His Mother-in-law, to wherever she goes, and not go back to Moab, her hometown. Moabites serve pagan gods. Ruth had the faith of Naomi. Going back to Moab means she will have to abandon the true God. So it is a call of faith, a call of loyalty. Being follower of Christ is to be loyal until death. It is faithfulness and love that causes one to be loyal. You can say you have faith and leave Christ. You can be faithful without being loyal. But being loyal is to be faithful until the end. “I will go” means you go with the Christ who will reign forever. If you do not go, you cannot achieve anything. You cannot be a victor. If we do not go and preach the Gospel of the Kingdom, we cannot conquer the world. So go and conquer! “I will go” means we are willing to have company. Going with Jesus is going with our co-followers. We are willing fellowship with each other. With Jesus in our midst, we come together in serving and loving each other. I will go means to wait for Christ in His second coming where He will reign and we will be with Him in the Millennial Kingdom. After a thousand years we shall be in Heaven with the Lord forever and ever. God is faithful and loyal to His Church, and we should all be loyal and faithful to Him.
