Let Us Pray No. 254

  • September 11, 2017

Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” John 20:19

Abba, our Lord, Jesus Christ who loves us the most and who truly cares for us. Because of your love, you came down from heaven, lived just like us, and went through great sacrifices until your death, to redeem us from the penalty of our sins. Though you went up to heaven, you imparted your Holy Spirit to us, and promised that you will never leave us until your second coming on earth. We are aware that without the shedding of your blood, our sins will not be forgiven. “The wages of sin is death.”  Death hangs over our head. Sin is a deadly killer. It kills the soul. You have given man the authority to choose, life or death. Man chose death by sinning. It is as if the Sword of Damocles is just a hairline above us. Therefore, sin robs us of happiness. Fear always looms in the heart of man. Lord, we find no peace if we sin. We went to our rooms and locked-up the door of our heart because of fear. But you came in our life. Your presence brought joy and comfort in us. Your love put away our fears. We heard you say, “Peace be with you.” Lord, oh, great is your love! You have taken away our iniquities, justified and sanctified us for your glory and praise. Today we shall walk in peace. We shall peace by not sinning against you. We shall pursue peace with everyone we encounter by being kind, helpful. We shall bless your Holy name and we shall bless the people around us. This we pray for the sake of your Holy name. Amen
