“You have not left your brethren these many days, up to this day, but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God. (Joshua 22:3 NKJV)

Israel finally came to Canaan, the promised land, after winning battles against their enemies. Joshua dismissed the tribes of Reuben and Gad and half the tribe of Manasseh who were strong warriors. They were the ones who led Israel in their fight to claim Canaan. They swore to help the rest of the tribes until they enter Canaan. These two and a half tribes were already settled at the side of the Jordan River before crossing to enter Canaan. However, they fought with their brothers until they are fully settled in the land.

Just like them, we have a covenant promise to each other that we will love, care, help and support each other. That is why we have to make sure we are at our best spirit, strong in faith, steadfast in our hope and fervent in love for God and for the brethren. Those of us who are strong must bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. The strength of one becomes the strength of all. By encouraging and empowering each other we are edifying the Most Holy Church.

Shalom po,
MP Hiel
