You found his heart faithful before You, and made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, The Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, and the Girgashites; To give it to his descendants. You have performed Your words, for You are righteous.

God regarded Abraham as His friend. Abraham gained that favor from God because of His faith. He was tested several times. God gave Him instructions and Abraham followed without hesitation. What God said, Abraham believed. What God directed, he pursued. He was obedient even to the point of offering His only son Isaac. He his love for God is greater than his love for his parents, material wealth, family, even to his only son. So God made a covenant to him and to his descendants.
We are now the covenant people of God, the children of God because we are Abraham’s spiritual seeds. We are heirs to God’s covenant promises not only in this life but in the life after. Like our father Abraham, let us decide to follow the true and living God instead of the gods of the world. Prove our faith and love for Him through our steadfast obedience. Do our part of the Covenant and we shall receive the full blessings of God.
