Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!”

But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips. (Job 2:9-10 NKJV)

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens without God’s permissive will. Because God’s will is good and holy, all things that come from Him are good. Nothing evil can come from Him. Like in the case of Job, God permitted him to be tried by Satan to prove that he really is a perfect man of God. His lost everything–his wealth and family. He also suffered from a dreaded disease. In all that he suffered, Job held strongly to his faith. Though everyone, even his wife, did not understand what was happening, he did not doubt God. In the end, he passed the trials and was restored. He was given a new family, his health and wealth were regained and multiplied. We go through difficult times and different degrees of hardships in life. Let us learn from Job’s experience. Trust fully. God is just and merciful. He is a sovereign God. We cannot and should not question Him for our sufferings. We suffer because He allows things to take its due course. If we disobey Him then suffer, it is because of what we have done. We chose to sin and sin has its corresponding punishment. To be restored by God, we have to humbly beg Him for mercy and forgiveness. Let us pray and commit ourselves to obey Him. Implore that things come to pass and that God, in His sovereignty, will save and deliver us from evil. Amen.
