But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience. (Luke 8:15 NKJV)
Our Christian Creed reminds us of who we are: “I am a Christian, a seed of wisdom in the garden of heaven”. As Christians, our spiritual goal is to become the perfect image of Christ. To become a perfect Christian is to become mature as children of God. As we are planted in the Church, we are to flourish in God’s teachings and doctrines. Every time we listen to God’s words, He is planting the seeds of holiness and righteousness. We are to blossom in time and produce fruits of good works. However, we need to do our fair share to blossom and mature. Let us submit ourselves to God’s mighty hand. His Ministers will provide the spiritual assistance we need. God will do the rest of growing and multiplying the fruits of righteousness. If we grow in Christ, we shall enjoy the fruit of the Spirit. People will witness the fruits in us such as love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. If we are truly of Christ’s, we should be like Christ for the tree is known by its fruits. If we are God’s children, we should be holy as He is holy. He is righteous, thus, we should also be righteous. When we do not bear fruits, God will not be pleased. He will cut-off the branch which does not bear fruits and throw it into the fire. However, He will clean and prune the branch that bears fruits so that it may produce more fruits.
