For the Lord gives skillful and godly Wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. (Proverbs 2:6 AMP)
Wisdom only comes from the Lord. We cannot have it unless God reveals it to us. Knowing and understanding are two different things. You may “know” something but you may not “understand” it. You may know but not know how to apply it. There is nothing to gain from knowing it. Wisdom is having the knowledge and understanding which benefits the one acquiring it. Knowledge and understanding of the highest degree comes from hearing the Words of God. It is heavenly wisdom, genuine, and pure. To acquire wisdom is to hear God and obey His words. It will make us wise to have salvation of our souls. If we follow our own knowledge and understanding, we will end up spiritually dead. We are foolish if we do not desire to be saved. We have to pray so that God of Light gives us the wisdom. If we have it, then we must keep it as our treasure. Keeping the treasure requires putting great value onto it. But do not keep it for yourself. You have to invest so that it may grow. You have the Words of God – share them with others who are unsaved. In so doing, God, who trusted you with wisdom, will be glad and entrust you even more treasure. These treasures are the wisdom which you store to provide you the gift of eternal life.
