Christ defeated all powers and forces. He let the whole world see them being led away as prisoners when he celebrated his victory. (Colossians 2:15 CEV)
In heaven, Lucifer rebelled against the Holy One, the Most High God. Some of the angels sided with him and were cast out of heaven. Lucifer became God’s adversary and was named Satan. He and the other fallen angels were destined to hell. Satan tries to compete with the one who created Him. He does this by deceiving men with his lies. But, Satan is lying to himself. He seems to believe that he is also god and can defeat God. He is a great liar. Christ triumphed over Satan and his whole army. Can we say with just a lift of a finger? He was as meek as a lamb. He rode on an ass. He was declared as king, with a crown of torn, and displayed hanging on a cross. With His death – yes, when Christ died – Satan was defeated. How come? It is completely humiliating for Satan and his army to be defeated in this way. But God will show His kingship with great glory when He comes again on earth to sentence Satan and the sinners to eternal death. On a white horse, triumphantly coming down from heaven with His multitude of angels, Christ will rule the earth with us. He will be declared as the King of kings, the Lord of lords. And us? We, His Saints, shall be kings and priests to Him.
