Typhoon Egay, also known as Typhoon Nuri, was a tropical cyclone that affected the Philippines in last week of July 2023. It was a significant weather disturbance that brought strong winds, heavy rainfall, and potential flooding to various regions of the country.
As of August 2, 2023, Typhoon Egay caused 27 reported casualties, while over 289,000 people remain displaced. The typhoon inflicted considerable damage to infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and buildings. Many areas experienced power outages due to fallen power lines and damaged electrical facilities. Heavy rainfall triggered floods in low-lying areas and caused landslides in mountainous regions. These natural disasters further exacerbated the damage to homes, farmlands, and other properties.
Natural disasters cannot be avoided. Even the brethren of the Most Holy Church of God in Christ Jesus in the hard-hit areas of Typhoon Egay, especially in Ilocos Region and Bulacan Province, suffered damages in their properties and livelihood. Their houses were submerged in floodwaters, with some houses having water reaching up to the first floor. Other houses were damaged, and the strong winds carried away the roofs. This situation lasted for several days, and until now, they are unable to resume their livelihoods. However, we should still thank the good Lord for keeping the brethren safe and no casualty was reported.
These trying times are a great opportunity for the members of the Most Holy Church to display brotherly love for one another. Therefore, the charity department of the Most Holy Church of God in Christ Jesus called “Lingap Agape Ministry” took action to give relief goods to both church members and non-members that were affected by the typhoon.

Again, the Church Administration is encouraging the entire Church to work together in upholding this ministry of the Church. Let us always have compassion and not grow weary in helping others because WE: CARE.
