For God does not withdraw his gift and his call. (Romans 11:29 Lamsa)
God’s gift and calling are irreversible. It should be understood that this refers to the favors bestowed upon us regarding our salvation, sanctification, and eternal life. The gifts include the promise of peace, joy, happiness, and success, as favors from Him. On the other hand, rewards or gifts which involve knowledge, strength, and even life itself may be taken away. These gifts and even the call for ministerial works or service can be taken away too, as clearly stated in the parable of the talents where God took away the gifts and revoked the call to service. Let us value the gift and calling of God by faithfully performing His commandments.
