Let Us Pray No. 4

  • January 4, 2017

“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.” Matthew 6:5

Dear Father, our King Most High who knows everything and sees everything. We pray to praise you. We would like for you to see us and not to be seen by men, and to be praised by them. As we decrease in our beings in your presence, may you increase. May we be able to magnify your glory to cover our whole self that we may delight in you and in your words. Help us see ourselves and others the way you see us, not of the flesh but as spirits. This way, we may live according to your will and for your glory. Moreover, may we live with others in careful consideration for them as spirit beings worthy of love and affection that we may do good to them. Knowing that we are created by you in your glorious image, in righteousness and in holiness, let our human nature which covers our true selves be peeled continuously to reveal the glory which is in us so that others may see you in us and glorify you in the end. Lord, may we suppress the desires of the flesh and let our spirit dominate and triumph over it that we may be able to stop sin and be worthy of your favor today and forever. Amen.
