But you, my friends, already know this. Be on your guard, then, so that you will not be led away by the errors of lawless people and fall from your safe position. (2 Peter 3:17 GNB)
In spiritual sense, we are all in the same boat. We owe each other a terrible loyalty: being watchful not only for our own safety but also for the safety of the rest of us. Strong winds are tossing the boat to everywhere. Great waves are continually pounding the boat. Wind and waves are the difficulties and sufferings which, first, may instill fears, confusion and doubts in our hearts. Second, they intend to throw us out of the boat or worse is to destroy the boat itself. Too many in this sea of life met their awful fate. They die spiritually while others have gone astray, only waiting for their own destruction. But we are safe while in the boat. The boat is the ark of our salvation which cannot be destroyed. The Ark is the Most Holy Church, designed by God that “even the gates of hell cannot prevail against it.” We have the anchor of our souls, our hope, our faith in Jesus Christ that He will fulfill His promise of salvation. Thus, we overcome as we ride on the waves and sail with the winds. We have peace as we see Jesus who is in full control and always there to rescue us. Stay in the Church, firm in our hope, strong in faith, focus on Jesus our Savior. Today let us continuously celebrate through worship and prayers and offerings of thanksgiving for His salvation.
