And said, “Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

Remember our Likhawit ng Pagdulog, entitled Handog na Luha (Tears Offerings)? It is a prayer requesting God for healing, salvation and purification. It expresses sincerely our trust in the God and our hope for His mercy. That was how King Hezekiah prayed. He asked for mercy. He did not brag about His loyalty and obedience to Him. He just asked God to remember them for Hezekiah knew that He walked uprightly before God. He has done what pleased God. Hezekiah wept as He poured himself in praying before God. Everyone weeps. Even Jesus wept when Lazarus died. We also weep. Our tears testify for our sincerity, sometimes because of helplessness and at times of gladness. Hezekiah wept because he was told that he will die. He was instructed by the prophet Isaiah to put his house in order. Death comes to all. Sooner or later we will face death. Will your house be in order during the time of your death? This can mean both literal and spiritual. Make sure your family is in order, well taught about the ways of godliness. Specially, make sure that your spiritual house which is yourself, your body, soul and spirit are in order. That you spend your life in accordance to God’s purpose and will and that is to glorify Him. God knows the intentions of our hearts. He is a merciful God who considers our plea. And God heard Hezekiah’s prayer. God added 15 years to His life. Let us pray like how Hezekiah prayed. Sincerely, whole heartedly full of hope and trust in Him. He may or may not grant us our request. But it is certain that He hears and considers our prayer. Submit to His sovereign will, knowing that He will do what is best for us. That is how He hears our prayers. He gives what is best for us. Do not settle for less.
